Fancy a £15,700 bill for not checking the competence of a contractor?

The HSE recently fined a construction company £13,000 with £2,700 costs after they appointed a company to remove asbestos. After problems on site it became evident that the company undertaking the asbestos removal were not competent. The unsuitability of the contractor was eventually discovered but by this time the site was contaminated.
